Asian Society of Ichthyologists
The Asian Society of Ichthyologists is a scientific organization dedicated to the study and conservation of fishes in Asia through research, teaching, and data sharing.
- Promotion of fish conservation and appreciation
- Advancement of all branches of ichthyology
- Dissemination of scientific information to the public
- Teaching of biodiversity sciences
ASI has met annually since 2014 except during COVID years. Previous conferences were held in Penang in 2014, Guilin in 2015, Taipei in 2016, Ho Chi Minh City in 2017, Nanning in 2018, Aceh in 2019, Penang for a second time in 2024, and Taipei for a second time in 2025. Attendees at each conference have numbered between 100 and 250, with large attendance by students from across Asian universities.

Breaking News - Call for Papers
The Asian Society of Ichthyologists is celebrating its 12th year by publishing a special issue of Current Zoology focusing on recent advances in ichthyological research in Asia. Please visit the webpage of the special issue (https://academic.oup.com/cz/pages/call-for-papers-rise-of-asian-ichthyology) for more information. All manuscripts are subject to peer review. If published in this special edition a 10% discount of page charges will be applied (normally APC will be 1300 US$/paper). If you will have a manuscript to submit by 30 September 2026, please send your name, email address, and an abstract summarizing results of your research to Professor Yahui Zhao, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, at zhaoyh@ioz.ac.cn.
